Melangell Roe-Stevens Smith, BA Hons 1st Class Theology and Ethics, MA(Byzantine Studies), Cert. Ministerial Studies, PGCE
Melangell Roe-Stevens Smith was born in 1962, in Zimbabwe, Southern Rhodesia. She grew up in Rhodesia and was educated there until 1978. She completed her education in Cape Town, South Africa. and worked initially at the Dept. of Surveys and Mapping in Cape Town, in the Cartography department. In 1987 she moved to Britain and held various jobs in computing, including programming and operations management. She was ordained in the Church of England in 1996, and served her title in Scunthorpe, where she was responsible for theological education and hospital chaplaincy. She was responsible for deveoloping theological study programmes for parishes. At Easter 2000, she left the Anglican communion, and was received into the Orthodox Church in the following September.
Melangell lives in Worcestshire. She is married with a teenage son, who is cradle Orthodox, and helps TMES as support staff. She supports herself and her work for the Orthodox Church through a small gardening business, which she has built from scratch.
She is currently the co-ordinator of both St Anne and All Saints parish, in Bransford, Worcestershire, and of St Egwin and Eadburgh Church community, Middle Littleton. She is a member of the Stiperstones Trustees for the monastic property of St. Aidan & St. Cuthbert in Shropshire She is the Registrar of Thyateira Midland Ecclesiastical Seminary, lecturing in Ethics and Church History.
