The Very Revd. Archimandrite Philip Hall
B.Sc. (Hons) Westminster University. Ecology. C.Theology Ripon College Cuddesdon, Oxford University. P.G.C.E. University of Hull, with distinction.
Archimandrite Philip was born in Kenya in 1959, and grew up in Kenya, Afghanistan, Yemen, and Somalia although he was largely educated in England. His first job was teaching in Zambia. He was ordained in the Church of England , where he oversaw the selection, initial training and monitoring of new Anglican Clergy for his bishop. He was also an Archbishops’ Examiner for the Archdioceses of Canterbury and York.
He left the Anglicans in 1989 and was received into the Orthodox Church in 1990.
Archimandrite Philip was ordained priest in 1995, and appointed Archimandrite in 2015, He is currently the Protosyngellos for the Antiochian Archdiocese (since 2023), and oversees the selection, initial training and monitoring of new deacons and priests for his bishop, together with the development of a small monastery. He is a member of the Trustees for the Archdiocese and the Archbishop’s Synthronon. He currently serves the parish priest of the Antiochian Church in Lincoln.
He worked in the HM Prison Service for over a decade, rising to be a Managing Chaplain. He also worked in Immigration Removal Centres. He has more than 21 years of experience teaching in Secondary Schools.
